Default Family dysfunction and it's affects

Right now, members of my family are going through a really rough time with each other, I've been caught in the sh*tstorm and also tried to stay out of it. It's scary and really ugly and I've had to distance myself from some very public and painful things going on.

One of the frustrating things is there's no reasoning with either side that isn't speaking and I'm getting caught in the middle. The harder part is that both sides come to me asking why I've had to distance myself.

It's dropping my state and I find that I'm happiest only when I am working out when I'm at work or on the road working, most of these are solitary actions.

I worry that the stuff going on around me is going to affect my views on relationships, women and I'm not sure how to proceed to break through this black cloud that comes around.

Sorry I can't get more detailed, but it's pretty ugly and not something I'd like to get into in such a public place.

Any advice or insight from any of you that have been through something similar would be greatly appreciated.

Simply say to everyone "I don't want to hear it" every time they start wanting to go off. Tell them I love you both so I cannot be put in this place. If it requires it let them know how selfish they are being by trying to force you to choose their side through their appeals. It is not fair to you and you shouldn't take it.

It's tough being in the middle, I do like your advice a lot and plan to put it into practice more. I've done the opposite and found peace by isolation, but in the past I've worried about it affecting other parts of my life.

    Thanks!

So I had to say goodbye to the member of my family that went too far. I'm still really angry at him and need to deal with it. I said what I had to said and hope for the best for him. It's bringing me down a bit that this is going on, hopefully it will turn around someday.
